Advances in Dog Collars


The progression of dog collars has come a long way since the first days of using rope to harness a dog.  Now days there are training dog collars, and basic collars, muzzle collars, collars of all shapes and sizes and materials, and also fruity smelling collars—although dogs don’t care for them.

The latest gadget in the form of a GPS dog collar is the Garmin Astro 220 GPS dog tracking system.   It comes with a hand held receiver and a collar which has as a radio transmitter imbedded; this is how signals are sent between the collar and the receiver.  The actual location is sent to a cell phone or laptop and the results will be most effective while in an area with good cell phone coverage.  Although there are some downsides to the GPS collars at the rate that technology is improving owners with GPS collars will never loose their dogs again

The name itself describes what this dog collar is used for.  A reflective dog collar reflects light in the dark.  This will help keep your dog safe in the evening times, and also help unsuspecting drivers know that there is a dog possibly walking in the streets.  Reflective dog collars are very efficient for the reasons listed above.  But also allows owners to see their dogs at night and lets others know that a dog is there.  For this collar to be effective you must follow the general rules of picking a dog collar because If your pet is too hairy, you may need to get a big collar so that the hair doesn’t cover it, but also you should make sure that  the collar fits right.

These two advances in dog collars the GPS dog collar and the reflective dog collar make the lives of those pet owners much easier, especially when trying to track them down at night or in a big hunting field or if lost.
